Illinois domestic violence resources
- Illinois Domestic Violence Hotline: You can call this number to seek confidential advice or report domestic violence, (877) 863-6338.
- The Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence: These are the people sticking up for your rights in Illinois. They tackle domestic violence by advocating for policies and training professionals who work with survivors. There is a lot of useful information on their site, including a list of resources.
Nationwide domestic violence resources
- Call 911: If you need immediate help, this is clearly the first number to call
- National Domestic Violence Hotline: Call this safe number for advice 1-800-799-7233. Or check their website for some great resources.
Despite all these resources and the many others available, you may need to take legal action to help you escape violence in your home. Do not be afraid to consult a family law attorney. While you may be scared about taking legal action against someone you love, it may be your best chance to save yourself.
